How Disc Stack Separation Works

The disc stack separator utilizes extremely high centrifugal forces to separate solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in a single continuous process. When denser solids are subjected to these forces, they are forced outward against the rotating bowl wall, while less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers.

The interface position, where different liquid phases meet, can be easily adjusted to ensure maximum separation efficiency. The insertion of specialized plates (the "disc stack") provides additional surface settling area, dramatically accelerating the separation process. The specific configuration, shape, and design of these plates enable the disc stack centrifuge to continuously separate a wide range of different solids from either one or two liquids.

The concentrated solids phase formed by particles can be removed continuously, intermittently, or manually, depending on the centrifuge type and the specific application's solids content.
