Centrifugal Separation Technology

The disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in a single continuous process using extremely high centrifugal forces. Denser solids are forced outward against the rotating bowl wall, while less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The interface position between liquid phases can be adjusted for maximum separation efficiency. The disc stack plates provide additional surface settling area, dramatically speeding up the separation process. This configuration enables continuous separation of various solids from liquids, with solids removal available continuously, intermittently, or manually depending on centrifuge type and application requirements.

2-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Separation occurs inside a rotating bowl where feed is introduced from the top via a stationary inlet pipe. After acceleration in the distributor, the feed enters the disc stack where liquid-solid separation takes place. The liquid phase moves through the disc stack to the center and is pumped out via a built-in paring disc. Solids collect in the periphery and are discharged intermittently through a hydraulic system that opens solids ports at the bowl periphery.

3-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Suspension is fed into the separator bowl from the top through a feeding pipe into the disc stack. The heavy phase and sludge move toward the bowl periphery while the light phase flows toward the center for pumping. Heavy phase is led over a top disc into a chamber where a paring device pumps it out. Solids collect in the sludge space and discharge intermittently via a hydraulic system that opens solids ports, with solids collected in the frame and exiting via a cyclone.

Self-cleaning disc stack centrifuges are divided into two types: purifiers for solids and two liquid phases, and clarifiers for solids and one liquid phase.
