Centrifugal Separation Technology

The disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in one single continuous process using extremely high centrifugal forces. When denser solids are subjected to these forces, they are forced outward against the rotating bowl wall, while less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The interface position where these liquid phases meet can be easily adjusted to ensure maximum separation efficiency.

Special plates (the "disc stack") provide additional surface settling area, dramatically speeding up the separation process. The specific configuration, shape, and design of these plates enable continuous separation of various solids from one or two liquids. Concentrated solids can be removed continuously, intermittently, or manually depending on centrifuge type and application requirements.

2-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Process Flow: 1 Feed → 2 Discharge → 3 Inlet tube → 4 Disc stack → 5 Solids holding space → 6 Centripetal pump chamber → 7 Centripetal pump

Separation occurs inside a rotating bowl where feed is introduced from the top via a stationary inlet pipe. The distributor ensures smooth acceleration before entering the disc stack. Liquid-solids separation happens between discs, with liquid moving through the stack to the center and pumped out via paring disc. Solids collect in the periphery and discharge intermittently through a hydraulic system that opens solids ports at preset intervals.

3-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Process Flow: 1 Inlet tube → 2 Central bore → 3 Distributor → 4 Distributor bore → 5 Rising channels → 6 Light phase centripetal pump → 7 Heavy phase centripetal pump

Suspension enters the separator bowl from the top through a feeding pipe into the disc stack. Heavy phase and sludge move toward the bowl periphery while light phase flows toward the center for pumping. Heavy phase is led over a top disc into a chamber where a paring device pumps it out. Solids collect in the sludge space and discharge intermittently via hydraulic system, then exit through a cyclone.

Self-cleaning disc stack centrifuges are categorized as purifiers (solids and two liquid phases) or clarifiers (solids and one liquid phase).
