Passion Fruit Juice Decanter Centrifuge Removing Seeds Residual Fiber Automatically

Passion fruit is one of the most difficult tropical juices to clarify because the pulp carries hard black seeds, a large volume of fine fibrous tissue and a high content of suspended solids that settles slowly. The HD-DEC-360 decanter centrifuge addresses all three problems in a single continuous pass. Juice arriving from the pulper is fed into a high speed bowl, where the centrifugal field of up to 3600 G drives seed fragments and fibrous solids against the bowl wall, and the scroll conveyor moves this compacted layer towards the conical discharge. Clear passion fruit juice flows out through the adjustable impeller at the cylindrical end of the bowl and continues to the blending, deaeration and pasteurization stages of the line.

The bowl geometry of this model has been selected specifically for seed bearing fruit juices. A relatively long cylindrical section gives the fine fiber enough residence time to settle, while the steep cone angle of the solids section shortens the path that the heavy seed fragments travel before discharge, which reduces the torque peaks that usually cause wear and vibration in general purpose machines. Operators who previously relied on a pulper plus a plate and frame filter report a cleaner juice with a brighter color directly after the decanter, together with a higher recovery because the solids stream is dewatered rather than discarded as wet waste.

• Selective Seed and Fiber Removal: The combination of bowl length, cone angle and differential speed allows the machine to retain coarse seed fragments and fine fiber in the same solids stream, so downstream filters no longer load up within a few hours of operation.
• Automatic Solids Discharge: The scroll conveyor discharges the compacted seed and fiber cake continuously through replaceable nozzles, eliminating the manual cleaning and intermittent flushing that batch basket centrifuges require.
• Two-Phase Adjustable Impeller: A movable impeller regulates the liquid pool depth inside the bowl, which lets the operator choose between maximum juice yield and maximum clarity for different ripeness levels of the incoming fruit.
• Corrosion Resistant Alloy Bowl: The bowl and the scroll are machined from duplex stainless steel and the product contact surfaces are polished, giving reliable service with the acidic conditions of passion fruit juice, which typically sits between pH 2.8 and 3.3.
• Vibration and Torque Protection: Bearing temperature sensors, an accelerometer on the frame and a torque limiter on the back drive protect the machine automatically, and the control system ramps feed flow down before any abnormal condition can escalate into a shutdown.
• Compact Footprint: The unit is mounted on a single baseplate measuring only 2.6 metres in length including the control cabinet, which means it can be retrofitted into existing juice rooms without civil works or major piping changes.

The machine is used wherever passion fruit must be separated from its seeds and fiber: ready to drink juice lines, concentrate evaporators, nectar and beverage base production, dairy fruit preparation, and the recovery of pulp from frozen or aseptic drums. It also performs well with other seed bearing tropical fruits such as soursop, guava and tamarind, where the same separation principle applies. Small and medium processors frequently run one unit as a single pass clarifier, while larger plants install two machines in series, the first set for coarse seed removal and the second tuned for fine clarification, reaching very low sediment levels before the finished beverage is filled.

The decanter is shipped on a fumigated wooden skid with the bowl locked and the bearings supported, fully wrapped in stretch film and housed in a seaworthy plywood case with desiccant. All loose items including spare nozzles, gaskets, tools and the control cabinet are packed in a separate crate. Documentation includes the operation manual, the maintenance schedule, electrical drawings and material certificates. A factory acceptance test with water and a representative pulp sample can be arranged on request, and the standard warranty period is twelve months from commissioning or eighteen months from shipment, whichever comes first.
