Centrifugal Separation Technology

The disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in one single continuous process using extremely high centrifugal forces. When denser solids are subjected to these forces, they are forced outwards against the rotating bowl wall, while less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The interface position where these liquid phases meet can be easily adjusted to ensure maximum separation efficiency. The disc stack configuration provides additional surface settling area, dramatically speeding up the separation process and enabling continuous separation of various solids from liquids.

2-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Process Flow: 1 Feed → 2 Discharge → 3 Inlet tube → 4 Disc stack → 5 Solids holding space → 6 Centripetal pump chamber → 7 Centripetal pump

Separation occurs inside a rotating bowl where feed is introduced from the top via a stationary inlet pipe and accelerated in the distributor before entering the disc stack. Liquid-solids separation takes place between the discs, with the liquid phase moving through the disc stack to the center and being pumped out via a built-in paring disc. Solids collect in the periphery and are discharged intermittently through a hydraulic system that opens solids ports at the bowl periphery.

3-Phase Separation Disc Stack Centrifuge

Process Flow: 1 Inlet tube → 2 Central bore → 3 Distributor → 4 Distributor bore → 5 Rising channels → 6 Light phase centripetal pump → 7 Heavy phase centripetal pump

Suspension is fed into the separator bowl from the top through a feeding pipe into the disc stack. The heavy phase and sludge move toward the bowl periphery while the light phase flows toward the center for pumping. Heavy phase is led over a top disc into a chamber where a paring device pumps it out. Solids collect in the sludge space and discharge intermittently via hydraulic system, then exit the centrifuge via a cyclone.

Self-cleaning disc stack centrifuges are categorized as purifiers (for solids and two liquid phases) and clarifiers (for solids and one liquid phase).
