The LW580 river dredging silt dewatering decanter centrifuge is a high throughput machine developed for environmental dredging contractors who must process large volumes of silt slurry from rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Dredging projects generate slurry with very low solids content, often between 2 and 10 percent, and the logistics of transporting such dilute material to disposal sites are prohibitively expensive. This decanter thickens and dewaters the slurry on site, reducing its volume by up to 80 percent and producing a cake that can be loaded directly into trucks. The clarified water is returned to the water body or polishing ponds, minimizing environmental impact and avoiding the need for huge settling lagoons.
Mobility is the defining feature of this system. The LW580 is mounted together with a polymer dosing unit, feed pump and control panel on a heavy duty skid or inside a container, so the complete dewatering plant can be relocated from one dredging site to the next by truck. The 580 mm bowl delivers up to 30 m3/H of slurry throughput, which allows contractors to keep pace with hydraulic dredgers operating around the clock. An integrated control system monitors feed density and automatically adjusts polymer dosage and differential speed, because the solids content of dredged slurry changes constantly as the dredger moves across the water body.

The LW580 serves river and harbor dredging contractors, lake restoration projects, reservoir desilting programs, storm water detention pond cleaning and mining tailings dam maintenance. It also dewaters drill slurry from horizontal directional drilling and tunnel boring operations, where environmental regulations require separation of cuttings from bentonite mud.
