Product Description

The LW355 electroplating heavy metal sludge dewatering decanter centrifuge is a compact, corrosion resistant machine developed for metal finishing facilities that must handle hazardous hydroxide sludge with full safety and reliability. Electroplating lines for chromium, nickel, zinc, copper and cadmium produce rinse water that is treated by alkaline precipitation, generating a gelatinous metal hydroxide sludge classified as hazardous waste in most jurisdictions. Because this sludge contains valuable metals as well as regulated pollutants, minimizing its volume through efficient dewatering directly reduces disposal cost and improves the economics of metal recovery. The LW355 concentrates such sludge into a thick, low moisture cake that is far easier and cheaper to transport, solidify or refine.

All components that contact the sludge are manufactured from corrosion resistant alloys and high grade stainless steel so that the machine survives the acidic and alkaline pH swings typical of batch treatment plants. The bowl and conveyor are protected against abrasion by the fine metal particles present in the sludge, and the feed zone is designed to introduce the sludge gently, preserving the floc structure formed by the polymer. A frequency controlled back drive maintains a constant differential speed, compensating for changes in feed solids so that the discharge cake remains uniform even when the composition of the incoming wastewater changes between production batches.

Applications

The LW355 serves electroplating and surface finishing plants, printed circuit board manufacturers, battery recycling facilities, metal smelting wastewater treatment systems and soil remediation projects treating heavy metal contaminated slurries. It dewaters hydroxide sludge from nickel, chrome, zinc, copper and precious metal plating lines, as well as sludge from chemical etching and pickling operations. The machine is also applied in centralized industrial wastewater treatment plants receiving waste streams from multiple metal finishing workshops, where its ability to handle variable sludge quality is a decisive advantage.

Packaging & Quality Assurance

Because the machine handles hazardous materials, our factory test protocol includes a full speed trial with water, vibration analysis and leak testing of all seals.
