The LW460 potato starch protein recovery decanter centrifuge is designed for potato starch factories that need to recover valuable protein from fruit water while protecting rivers and municipal treatment plants from high organic loads. When potatoes are rasped and washed, the starch milk is separated from the so called fruit water, which contains soluble protein, amino acids and fine pulp. This stream has an extremely high biological oxygen demand and represents both an environmental challenge and a business opportunity. The LW460 decanter separates the suspended solids and coagulated protein from the fruit water, producing a protein rich cake that can be dried and sold as animal feed, while the clarified water is recycled to the starch line or treated at a fraction of the original cost.
Potato processing is seasonal and operates around the clock during the campaign, so reliability is the first requirement. The LW460 combines a 460 mm bowl with a robust 45 kW main drive to handle the high throughput typical of modern starch plants. The machine is built with food grade materials in the product zone, and its scroll conveyor is protected against the abrasive silica that is naturally present in potato pulp. Differential speed control allows the operator to maximize protein capture when fruit water quality fluctuates, and the compact skid layout simplifies installation inside existing starch factories where space is often tight.

Beyond potato starch, the LW460 is used for sweet potato and cassava starch processing, where the same fruit water problem exists. It also recovers protein and fiber from vegetable processing wastewater, dewaters pulp from root crop peeling lines and thickens sludge in food factory effluent treatment. The clarified water can be further polished by flotation or biological treatment to meet discharge standards, significantly reducing the size and cost of downstream wastewater infrastructure.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceEach machine is fully assembled and test run in our factory, with vibration and temperature readings recorded in the test certificate. Food contact surfaces are cleaned and protected with food grade preservative before packing. The LW460 ships in a reinforced wooden case or steel frame container, complete with installation drawings, electrical diagrams and an operation and maintenance manual. We provide 12 months warranty and rapid spare parts dispatch, and our service team can supervise installation during the critical weeks before the potato campaign starts.
